Names:

  • German: Platane Spiegel

  • Chinese: 欧洲尼斯

Botanical name:

Platanus ssp.

Character / Color:

On the radial surfaces, the strikingly broad and high wood rays produce decorative figures which dominate the otherwise rather simple wood texture of the European lacewood. Especially when a true quarter cut is used, the wood rays are sliced into elliptical shapes which create undulating light and shadowy reflections typical of "lacewood". The orangey brown to light reddish brown color of the European lacewood gives this interesting pattern an invitingly mellow ambiance.
