Character / Color:

Beech wood is a choice for furniture production, especially when the wood has a figured grain pattern. In this case, the otherwise plain appearance is made interesting by more or less regular and distinctive stripes which run across the grain and give the wood a strikingly decorative (fishbone) note.  The characteristic wood rays produce reddish spindles on the tangential plane and dark vertical grain on the radial cut of the pale yellowish to reddish white wood.
