FLEECE’N’FLEX COLLECTION– WINNER OF THE MATERIALPREIS2018
Nothing beats classics!
It was exciting, it was cheerful, and it was hot. Traditionally, the weather is pretty good with the materialPREIS when it comes to selecting and celebrating the winners of the competition once a year. And so, on June 5, 2018, the lucky winners of the awards and recognitions competed with the sun.
A total of 31 materials and their manufacturers from industry, trade and design received the materialPREIS 2018 - the award for special materials from the raumPROBE materials agency in Stuttgart. In the fully occupied House of Economy and the festive atmosphere of Stuttgart's largest and most impressive building at the end of the 19th century, prizewinners from four nations celebrated the winners in eight categories, including for the first time also the categories "Classics" and "Audience Voting".
All award winners - and also submissions - can be seen in the launched magazine and the accompanying exhibition materialANSICHTEN. Starting next week, all prize winners will be on display for one year in the materials EXHIBITION and at various special shows like Architect@work. A magazine with an overview of all prize winners is available at raumPROBE.
From the numerous entries, the six jurors each selected three winners in the categories design, innovation, collection, ecology, process, study and the new category classics, which focuses on traditional materials and evergreens in the construction industry. After the successful introduction last year, this year for the first time in the category audience voting, the planning audience was given the opportunity to decide on additional prize winners in the award for special materials. Here, too, three materials were awarded via the homepage.
In total, 24 awards and 7 recognitions were presented.
The Fleece'n'flex Plus collection from Schorn & Groh in Karlsruhe convinced the top-class jury. The extremely thin wood veneers are applied to fleece so that they do not break. They are suitable for multidimensional shapes and difficult substrates. You can choose from over 140 types of wood and types such as "plaited", "structured", "perforated", "particularly flexible" or "thin sanded" for backlighting.
