Naturally durable woods
In the search for durable and resistant woods suitable for our decking boards, we found what we were looking for here in Europe. Our wood species have already proven themselves for centuries in agriculture, horticulture and timber construction and are valued for their resistance to rot and insects. They thus offer a good alternative to tropical wood with many ecological advantages.
Modified woods
Even durable, natural wood reaches its limits under extreme weather conditions. In order to increase durability and dimensional stability, there are various methods for modifying wood. We place the highest value on sustainable and ecological modification processes.
Thermowood
Thermowood is the ecological alternative to tropical hardwoods. Domestic woods such as ash and pine are subjected to a process without chemical additives. The cell structures are changed by high heat and humidity in such a way that the water absorption capacity is greatly reduced. This makes the planks less susceptible to wood-damaging fungal or insect infestation. At the same time, their swelling/shrinkage behavior is greatly reduced and their durability is similar to that of tropical wood. The decking boards have durability class EN 350-1 and are perfect for outdoor use.
