The heartwood of the species Angelim is light to medium brown, usually with a shade of orange or rosé and is clearly separated from the narrow, yellowish-white to straw-coloured sapwood. The colour contrast between the light coloured storage tissue and the dark fibre zones on longitudinal surfaces is striking. This is a dry wood without a characteristic smell.
