The oak burl presents a fascinatingly vivid veneer figure to the observer. Arrayed in clearly separate groups, the dark brown cores of the burls stand out from the primarily light brown color of the wood. Between them are the barely discernable annual rings. The production of a uniform veneer figure is often made difficult by ingrown particles of bark.
