The Paraiso tree is also known under the wood species Zedrachbaum, also Persian Lilac, Chinese Elder or Paternosterbaum and belongs to the family of the Meliaceae (Mahogany family). It grows in China, the Himalayas and India. The sapwood is yellowish-white and up to 6 cm wide; clearly separated from the yellowish- to reddish-brown heartwood, which darkens weakly at the light. Paraiso is a ring-porous wood with striking and wide growth zones.
