Character / Color:
Smoked oak is modified oak in color. The appearance is therefore identical to the European oak. By the addition of ammonia, the wood becomes discolored and gets a dark brown or even black hue. The hue depends eventually on the amount of present tannic acid in the wood. The dark shade of smoked oak is more stable against UV light compared to natural wood or thermo wood.
