The wood, which is called acacia in Germany, is botanically correctly called robinia or "false acacia". The wood has excellent technical properties, a high natural durability and often a decorative appearance. The sapwood is white to light yellowish and very narrow in older trees; the heartwood in the newly cut stage is yellowish olive to light brown, under the influence of light darkening to golden brown or light leather brown. Robinia wood is currently hardly available in larger lots.
