Bamboo

Names:

  • German: Bamboo
  • French: Bambou
  • Chinese: 竹子

Botanical name:

Bambusoidea Spp. (Phyllostachys pubescens)

Character / Color:

Bamboo is flexible and yet unbending – a symbol of the Chinese nature. It stands for elasticity, endurance and tenacity. The ring-shaped thicknesses on the stem are characteristic of the wood. When the wood is processed into delicate slats and veneer, these points become visible as dark "knots" and lend the decor an exotic touch. These typical bamboo knots are most easily recognized in horizontally processed slats. Less distinctive knots can be seen on vertically pressed slats, whose dominant factor is fine lines on a golden yellow to brown-hued wood.

Australia, South America, Africa, Asia
