The decorative veneer of the block-figured Makoré enchants the viewer with its wonderfully vivid figure created by frequently occurring double cross-grain and varied types of fiber deviations. Changing from regular to irregular patterns, the variously distorted, interwoven or overlapped stripes lend the wood an interesting and turbulent radiance. Another impressive quality is the wood's characteristic and relatively homogenous reddish to reddish brown color.
