Paldao is often used as a substitute for walnut due to its decorative drawing and color. It is similar to walnut, but is not a genuine walnut. Paldao has a greyish-brown color with a very light yellowness. The vertical, regular black stripes intensify the decorative character. The Paldao veneer is used in high-quality interior design, musical instrument building and furniture construction. Paldao trees can reach a height of up to 40m and a diameter up to 1m.
