The pear tree has diffuse-porous and fine-grained wood. A generally uniform and plain texture which is subtly grainy and partially flamy lends the wood beauty and a decorative note. The often pith-marked wood occurs in colors from pale to light reddish-brown or has an intense red coloring approaching light violet. Overall, the texture of the wood resembles that of the Elsbeere, which is also known as Swiss pearwood.
