Redwood
Wood species / Trade name:
Redwood
Names:
- German: Vavona
- French: Sequoia
- Chinese: 红杉
Botanical name:
Sequoia sempervirens
Character / Color:
Like the giant venerable redwood of the Pacific forests, the beautifully warm and inviting redwood veneer is also a feast for the eyes. The veneer figure has a uniform reddish brown color, while freshly cut wood has an interesting light violet shade. The grain of this non-resinous wood is attractively striped or figured as a result of the clear annual ring formation. When the rings are more closely spaced, the design is even finer and the ring separation is less distinct.
